Branch 4 is a ‘Future Past’ work.
The “Future Past” work is best characterised by the ‘Pinned Limb’ series of sculptures exhibited at Fresh Air in 2017 and Highly Commended in the National Sculpture Prize of 2016. The works ‘purport’ to present artefacts from our present age as viewed by our descendants and, through the use of impressed facsimiles of degradable natural specimens, employ themes of decay, actions to redress the processes of time and loss to open a discussion on the legacies of this age.
The form and materials of these pieces are drawn from the language of the memorial or monument as much as from the museum.
