Blister Packaging

I have for a few years been intrigued by the possibilities of ‘blister’ packs, the packaging where the product   is sandwiched between sheets of acetate/acrylic vacuum formed to loosely follow its shape. The use of the food packaging in the earlier work, ‘The Package’ brought blister packs to mind; they seemed to resonate with the current strand not only as a representation of the technicity ‘bubble’ through which we experience the world but also as a means of combining components of ‘a world’ in the sense proposed by Heidegger in Being and Time, since often this form of packaging is used to hold and display several components which comprise a kit; the analogy of a kit and Heidegger’s ‘equipmental structure’ is interesting.
