Slug mucus on found material over oak base

72cmWx 30cmH x 3cmD

The work recalls a work made by Robert Rauschenberg in 1953 where a car tyre dipped in black household paint was driven over 20 leaves of Letter size paper glued together in a log strip (John Cage was behind the wheel). Here a slug was gently persuaded over 20 rectangular sections of bay leaf laid edge to edge, the gastropod mollusc’s single foot taking 356 seconds to traverse the width of the artwork.
